Thanks to the 3 of you...with hopes of a better sound quality next time. Everything kept breaking up, and it sounded like someone had a radio on in the background.
I want to bring just a note of caution about the role of vaccination in improving public health. During the time when vaccination was being implemented, other things were also being done that relate to the health of a population. Clean water, for instance. (Where did that cholera epidemic orignate - for instance.) Clean water, cleaner air, less crowded living conditions. Vaccination is important, and the improvement in the nature of vaccines accomplished in response to the Covid pandemic is wonderful, a whole new world of medical effectiveness against disease. It is also well worth mentioning that not only vaccination but public health measures rely on scientific thinking to produce their beneficial effects.
This is a spectacular idea, Preet! The audio-only podcasts are OK, fine, but it means more to me to be able to sense not just the words, but also how the participants seem to be, as I look at them. It's much more like sitting in a room having a conversation, even if we as audience are not speaking. Well done!
So very happy to have you here! We need all the legal minds and perspectives that we can get. Never in my life, would have I have thought that I would be seeking legal opinion as much as I do these days.
In re: Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America": Read the Executive order. It only renames the waters off the coast of the US that extend over the continental shelf and stops at the territorial waters of Cuba and Mexico, so only a slim crescent:
4(b) As such, within 30 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of the Interior shall, consistent with 43 U.S.C. 364 through 364f, take all appropriate actions to rename as the “Gulf of America” the U.S. Continental Shelf area bounded on the northeast, north, and northwest by the States of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and extending to the seaward boundary with Mexico and Cuba in the area formerly named as the Gulf of Mexico.
I didn't hear any breaking up but there was background noise. Other than that, it was great! Heather and Joanne are favorites!
Possibly background noise from public setting where Professor Cox Richardson was?
