About Stay Tuned
The team behind the Stay Tuned with Preet podcast from Vox Media built this Substack to create a platform for original perspectives grounded in reason and expertise – not controversy for controversy's sake, but informed arguments that bring substance to the headlines. The stakes are high, and there is real reason for worry. But instead of feeding the panic and fueling partisan fire, we aim to channel the urgency into clear-eyed analysis: What’s happening, why it matters, and what can be done about it. What you’ll hear are reasoned voices in unreasonable times, from some of the country’s sharpest legal minds.
Each week, a rotating roster of preeminent legal experts will share their thoughts on the latest and most significant legal stories shaping the country—from criminal justice, to constitutional interpretation, to national security and counter-intelligence.
Our Ethos
Our news coverage is guided by the following principles: intellectual rigor, nuance, and calm. Our podcast listeners consistently highlight our value as a “calm and reassuring voice of reason,” and the need for such voices has only increased amid the unrelenting torrent of news. There is, of course, no shortage of legal and political issues to cover—not now, not ever. But our distinct value proposition is, and will continue to be, the thoughtfulness of our commentary, our ability to acknowledge and engage in nuance, and offering incisive critiques when warranted. In this way, we hope to be better, more astute legal commentators and more effective political critics. Our hope is to keep you informed, without the hysteria, without the fear-mongering, without the rage-baiting.
We’re building a community committed to understanding and defending the rule of law. We’re thrilled to have you with us. Thank you for supporting our work.
