Maurene Comey Sues DOJ — Live recording of Joyce Vance & Preet Bharara

On Comey’s newly filed lawsuit challenging her firing as unlawful

Longtime federal prosecutor Maurene Comey has just sued the Department of Justice, challenging her dismissal in July as unlawful. She claims she was given no reason for her firing, which followed an exemplary 10-year career at the Southern District of New York. Comey was responsible for several high-profile prosecutions, including those of Ghislaine Maxwell, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and former Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ). Comey is the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, a known political nemesis of President Donald Trump, which Comey now argues is the real reason for her forced departure. In this live conversation, Preet and Joyce share their reactions to Comey’s lawsuit and break down the circumstances surrounding her firing.
