How to Fight Political Complacency — Live recording of Garry Kasparov & Preet Bharara

“We have Watergate every minute" with Trump

This afternoon, I spoke to Russian chess grandmaster and outspoken political advocate Garry Kasparov about complacency and corruption in American politics and the inevitability of a figure like Donald Trump. We talked about Attorney General Pam Bondi and the weaponization of the DOJ, the comparison between ICE and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s paramilitary police force, and Trump’s current posture on Ukraine.

Kasparov is the host of the second season of “Autocracy in America,” a podcast from The Atlantic. The first season was hosted by Anne Applebaum, who joined me on the Stay Tuned podcast this week! Anne and I examined today’s broader political landscape and how our politics became divorced from reality. You can listen to that episode in your podcast players, or watch it on Youtube.

As news continues to develop, we’ll keep covering it with the most thoughtful and incisive experts in their fields. We hope you’ll subscribe if you haven’t, and consider becoming a paid subscriber if you have. Your support helps keep us going.

Stay Tuned,

Preet
