Are the Midterms Safe?

Republican election lawyer Ben Ginsberg joins the Insider podcast

A NOTE FROM THE PRODUCER

Jake Kaplan is the Supervising Producer of the Stay Tuned with Preet and Insider podcasts.

As Republicans push the SAVE Act and President Trump continues to cast doubt on the integrity of elections, the debate over election security and voter confidence has become more polarized than ever.

On a new episode of the Insider podcast, Preet Bharara and Joyce Vance are joined by veteran Republican election lawyer Ben Ginsberg, who served as counsel to the presidential campaigns of George W. Bush and Mitt Romney. They break down the state of voting rights and what can be done to strengthen confidence in American elections.

Ginsberg argues that President Trump’s years of baseless election fraud allegations have damaged trust in elections far more than any evidence ever has: “The Trump administration has had the keys to the kingdom. They’ve had the FBI, they’ve had the national security infrastructure, they’ve had the Justice Department looking to investigate elections…There is still no substantive evidence to back up the charges that our elections aren’t accurate and certainly not that they’re fraudulent.”
